Innovative chemistries
The PEPR will develop new chemical compositions for GEN 4 and GEN 5 batteries by tackling six major technological challenges.
- High-energy-density batteries (with an energy density greater than 400 Wh/kg) for transport applications, particularly road transport (battery electric vehicles). Project LIMASSE.
- High-power-density batteries with two different concepts: systems with an energy density of 150 Wh/kg and a lifespan of 5,000 cycles, recharging in 5 minutes, and batteries with a lower energy density of 50 Wh/kg and a lifespan of 50,000 cycles, recharging in 1 minute, to meet a wide range of applications (fast-charging electric vehicles, hybrid vehicles, industrial vehicles, off-road mobile equipment, power tools, stationary energy storage, etc.). Project HIPOHYBAT.
- All-solid high-power-density batteries: this work will be carried out as part of a Franco-German project, HIPOBAT.
- High-energy-density batteries with a low cost per cycle (less than €0.05/kWh/cycle) for stationary energy storage applications: Projects DISCOVERY and RADICAL.
- Batteries without critical raw materials, exploring alternative solutions to address issues related to resource availability: Projects SONIC and FRISBI.
- Micro-batteries specifically designed for Internet of Things (IoT) applications (sensor networks, etc.): Project SIMBA.
